The Bachelor of Legislative Law (LL.B.) is a three-year professional degree approved by the Bar Council of India (BCI), open to graduates of any discipline who wish to pursue a formal career in legal practice. The programme provides a rigorous and systematic foundation in the principles, doctrines, and procedures of the Indian legal system — encompassing constitutional law, administrative law, jurisprudence, criminal law, contract law, property law, company law, and civil and criminal procedure. Skills-based training through moot courts, client counselling competitions, legal drafting workshops, and legal aid clinics prepares students for the practical demands of active advocacy.
In an environment of expanding regulatory complexity, commercial litigation, and digital-era legal challenges, the LL.B. qualifies graduates to enrol as advocates before bar councils at all levels and is among the most professionally versatile credentials in India. Graduates build careers in litigation, corporate legal departments, public prosecution, and government legal services. Many pursue judicial services examinations, LL.M. specialisations, or practice in emerging areas such as arbitration, intellectual property law, cyber law, and international commercial law.
