The Master of Education (M.Ed.) is a two-year NCTE-regulated postgraduate programme designed for practising teachers, education graduates, and school administrators who wish to engage with education as a field of scholarly inquiry and professional leadership. The programme advances understanding of educational philosophy, curriculum theory, educational psychology, comparative education, institutional management, research methodology, and technology-enhanced learning. A research dissertation forms the programme’s capstone, developing the capacity to investigate educational challenges through rigorous qualitative and quantitative methods.
As India implements NEP 2020 across school and higher education systems — reshaping assessment practices, teacher training frameworks, and institutional governance — the need for education professionals with postgraduate-level analytical and policy-oriented capabilities is more critical than ever. The M.Ed. prepares graduates for academic positions in teacher education colleges, roles in curriculum development units and policy bodies, senior school administration, and research organisations. The degree also qualifies graduates for UGC NET/SET examinations and opens pathways to doctoral research in education.
B.Ed. degree with minimum 50% marks from a recognized university. University may relax this minimum percentage criterion for reserved category candidates.
